Nikki McLaughlin

Nikki has an extensive education, having completed degrees in Biomedical Science and Physiotherapy and now studying for a Masters in Sport and Exercise Physiotherapy at Cardiff University. Nikki has developed his specialist knowledge, clinical and rehabilitation skills whilst working with teams including Exeter Chiefs Rugby, Newport Gwent Dragons, WRU U18’s, Wales Deaf Rugby and Great Britain Basketball U 20s.

Nikki has worked in elite level sport domestically and internationally and attended the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games as part of the Team Wales Medical Team. More recently, he was Deputy Head Physiotherapist at the 2015 World University Games in South Korea and in addition physio in the 2015 UK School Games.

Alongside leading the physiotherapy services in the Occupational Health clinic in GE Aviation, he currently is clinical lead for Baseline Physiotherapy, Senior Physiotherapist for Cardiffmet Sport and Exercise Medicine Clinic and Senior Physiotherapist at Inspire performance whilst also providing occasional cover for Sports Council of Wales.

He has a special interest in functional movement and rehab, Nikki has also qualified as a level 2 instructor in MovNat, which uses primal movement patterns to improve function and optimise performance. He is fully registered with Health Profession Council (HPC) and is listed with all major insurance companies. He is also a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sport and Exercise Medicine, the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health & Ergonomics and the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.

Rebekah qualified with first class honours in Physiotherapy from Cardiff University and is currently studying for her Masters degree in Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy.

Rebekah qualified with first class honours in Physiotherapy from Cardiff University and is currently studying for her Masters degree in Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy. Rebekah has worked in rugby covering at Beddau RFC, Coleg y Cymoedd and has worked alongside the sports physio team to cover Wales Deaf Rugby and Gwent Dragons ladies.

Rebekah has also worked with swimmers and triathletes, helping to increase sports participation in children with disabilities through Disability Sport Wales, in addition to musculoskeletal screening and implementation of injury prevention strategies for the Wales U19 Netball squad and the Junior Welsh Archers. She has also designed and delivered injury prevention and management seminars to Caerphilly Cycling club and Caerphilly Running Club, both of whom she works closely with.

Rebekah has a special interest in the degenerative neurological disease Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT), having worked with the US based charity, the CMT Association to make a series of videos series on exercise and CMT. Rebekah now has ongoing projects with CMTUK and provides information, support and advice to people affected by it globally.

Rebekah is registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the Health Profession Council (HPC) and is also listed with all major insurance companies.
